The Goal of Marriage ?

Are you married? I am.. Did you promise something to your spouse at your wedding? I did.. Can you honestly say that you respected the vows you claimed in front of many people and before God up until now? I can't... What about your spouse ? Did they promise you something at your wedding? Could they honestly say that they respected the vows they claimed on that day, up until now?

What is the point of marriage?

The goal?

I think you know it now : I am a christian. And as a christian, I believe that God is the one who invented marriage. So, He must know why, right?

Is the goal of marriage to have children? Maybe... He said to Adam and Eve to multiply and fill the earth, right?

But..

I think the main goal of marriage, is to make us more like Christ.

What do the Scriptures say about that?

This is what Paul writes to the Ephesians(5:22-33) :

22 Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord. 23 For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. 24 Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.

25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her 26 to make her holy, cleansing[a] her by the washing with water through the word, 27 and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. 28 In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. 29 After all, no one ever hated their own body, but they feed and care for their body, just as Christ does the church— 30 for we are members of his body. 31 “For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.”[b] 32 This is a profound mystery—but I am talking about Christ and the church. 33 However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.

Wives are supposed to submit to their own husbands as to the Lord and husbands are supposed to love their wives as Christ loves the Church!

Is it hard? It is.. Is it impossible? No, it's not! Because all things are possible to God!

Is it written that husbands are supposed to submit their wives? No.. It has to be voluntary from the wife. To submit to someone does not mean obey in everything and be silent.. It means put oneself under the protection of someone. So, as you submit to God, put your confidence in Him and are under His protection, so you should submit to your husband, put your confidence in him and come under his protection. God should be number one and your husband number two!

Husbands have a huge responsibility... To love their wife as Christ loved the Church! This means a sacrificial love, that will make her holy. They are called to love their wives just as themselves, just as their own body. As Christ is the head of the Church, so is the husband the head of the wife.

Paul concludes simply, summarizing it all : each one of you MUST love his wife as he loves himself and the wife MUST respect her husband.

This is an OBLIGATION! A commandment!

Is one a consequence of the other? Nope.. Each one of them are called to do their own part, unconditionally. Love, anyway, should be unconditional, just as God's Love is unconditional..

A wife should not submit to her husband only if he is a good husband, fulfilling her desires and "needs".

A husband should not love his wife only when she agrees with everything he decides.

Husband and Wife should be a "team", working together for the Glory of God, as a testimony before the world.

Is your husband a christian? No? Be a blessing to him, keep confidence in God, pray for him, take care of him, put him before everything but God, follow him as long as he doesn't go against God's will for you, maybe you will convince him to follow this God you serve with so much Love.

Is your wife a christian? No? Be a blessing to her, pray for her, serve her, take care of her, put her before everything but God, lead her with the counsel of God, show kindness and grace to her, maybe you will convince her to follow this God you serve with so much Love.

Is your husband a christian? Yes, but...? Is your wife a christian? Yes, but...

UNCONDITIONAL!

I already wrote about Love being a choice.. Love is not a feeling... When you don't feel like it... Keep loving him/her, just as Christ Loved us all, and gave himself up for us.

So? What is the goal of marriage?

What do you think about this? Do you agree? Do you disagree? Is there something to add?

God bless you!

Beautiful?

Beautiful means something different for everyone.
Some consider only the appearance. Some say beauty is to be found in one's heart.
To be beautiful doesn't necessarily mean being pretty. And being pretty doesn't necessarily make you beautiful.
Some use make up because they think it will make them beautiful. Actually, it can make you seem superficial.
Some others don't put make up on for this reason. Actually, not wearing make up can make you seem careless.
But all this is about appearances and other people's opinion.
What makes someone objectively beautiful?
No one knows. But everyone has their own opinion about it.
It seems like when you do good, when you smile every day, whatever you're facing and if you are courageous, everyone agrees to say that you are beautiful.
Actually, being happy makes you glow and you become more and more beautiful.
Baden Powell said that the key to happiness was to make others happy.
Are you happy?
Are you beautiful?

To Die?

What is it like to die?
Do you still feel things? Do you have another body? Does your soul rest somewhere or do you err on Earth, in the air?
Do the dead remember their life on Earth?
Only God and the dead know the answers to these questions I'm afraid...
But to the question "Is there life after death?",people seem to have the answer. At least some of them.
Some say there is nothing after death. You just die and don't exist anymore. Some say there is life after death and they don't all have the same opinion on what it is like.
Some say people go to heaven. Some say people go to heaven or hell. Some say other things.
The possibilities are so many that it is impossible to tell them all here.

Which one is the truth?

It might be impossible to know what death is like before going through it, but we all get to know what it is like to go through mourning at some point. When I say mourning I mean mourning for the death of someone you knew and loved.

"Will I see them again?" "Can they hear me?" "Can they see me?" "Are they proud of me?" "What would they like me to do?"
All these questions come and go in your head and you wish they could answer them.  You try your best to be happy and go on living but you realise you can't do it on your own. So you pray God to help you and you do your best to honour them and keep the promises you made.
And you start to imagine what it would be like if that other person you love died. You try to talk about it with them. You try to know what they want you to do when they die. You try to let them know what you want them to do when you die.
You try not to forget that life goes on and the best way to make your dead beloved proud is to be happy.
Don't stay alone. TALK about it all. Don't forget that God is the best comforter of all and that He puts people on your way to help you go through it all.
Easy to say, I know.
It takes time, but you can heal and you WILL.

Please God?

"To the man who pleases Him, God gives wisdom, knowledge and happiness" (Ecclesiastes 2:26)

Are you looking for the key to success? What is success? I mean real, true success.
Some would do anything to be famous and have their moment of glory. Some just want to hide all their life because they find themselves ordinary and uninteresting. Some just want to live life to the fullest, be it in abundance or in need.
Some say success is when you are happy with what you have, what you do and what you go through. Some say the key to Happiness is Love.
Some say success is when you have studied a lot and know a lot. But is that Knowledge?
Knowledge starts with knowing God. And true Wisdom starts when you "fear" the Lord.
So, if you want all these things, all you have to do is to please God. Quite simple, isn't it?
But, how can you please God?
No one can
God has too high standards for me, and for you. Who never stole anything? Who never lied to someone? Who never hated anyone? Who has never had idols? (That is, people or things that they loved more than God, or worshipped instead of God)
We all fail. We all fail everyday at least one of His commandments.
That's the bad news.
You know what? There is a GOOD NEWS!
God loves us too much to leave us this way. Unable to please Him, unable to be wise, unable to know Him, unable to be happy.
He provided a way that we can please Him, know Him and be happy.
Jesus-Christ is that way. He is the only Way.

"Who then can be saved? And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible." (Mark 10:26-27)

"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father but by me." (John 14:6)

Holding a grudge?

What if you realised that one of the best friends of your husband had her eye on him? What if she were his best "man" at the wedding? What if your best friend seduced your wife to the point that she left you for him?
I have to say I don't know how I would react. I would probably be very sad and angry at the same time. I might even wish that the laws of the Old Testament would still be observed today and be the first one to throw the stone at the so called friend. Now that's violent! Sorry. I have to be honest, that's all.
Though my human nature tells me to hold a grudge against people who hurt me, God tells me to forgive. Wow!
"But Lord, this is too much! I can forgive things but there are limits; this, I cannot forgive!"
Can you imagine God's answer? What if God did the same? "I died on the cross to forgive your sins, but this is too much! My sacrifice doesn't cover that kind of sin!"
But as God forgave us and still does forgive us ALL our sins when we sincerely repent then we should also forgive for ALL the things that people do that hurt us. Easy to say, right?
But if we are saved we have received the Holy Spirit. He is also there to help us obey God and he is called the comforter and Jesus died on the Cross and rose again to heal us. It is about inner healing. If God heals our hearts then we will be able to forgive.
Now all you have to do is let him do so.

Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;
Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. (Colossians 3:12-13 KJV)

"For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses." (Matthew 6:14-15 KJV)

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9 KJV)

Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself: I am the Lord. (Leviticus 19:18 KJV)

Hatred stirs up strife, but love covers all offenses. (Proverbs 10:12 ESV)

Mistakes...

Everybody makes mistakes.
One thing is to admit we did one. Another thing is to do all that we can so that we never make that same mistake again.
Some people never make it even to the first step. Should I say many people?
Some are afraid of making mistakes and always wonder if what they do is the right thing. I think it's good to want to do the right thing. I don't think it's good to live in fear.
You cannot savour your life and enjoy what you do if you are constantly afraid of making a mistake. Mistakes belong to life. You need to make mistakes to grow in life. You cannot be perfect and do everything right. We are humans not gods.
And God actually teaches us things through our mistakes. We need to be dependent on Him. So if we never make mistakes or if nothing bad happens to us He will never get to teach us anything, will He?
That's why we need to make mistakes and we should never be afraid of taking chances.

Writer's block

Does it really exist? What does it feel like to lose inspiration like this? Does it happen overnight? Just like that?
But what is it exactly? If it ever happens, is there any hope? Is there any hope that you might find inspiration again?
I am sure there is always hope. When you have a special talent, you always dream a lot about what is possible to do with this talent. But if that talent seems to go away will the dream remain in your heart? If the dream remains then it might come back. If the dream disappears then it might have been just a season in your life. Then you may find out that you have other talents and gifts and use them properly. You might also stay careful and exercise them a lot to make sure your previous adventure won't happen again. Well, you never know what might happen. But if you fear writer or any other kind of block(loss of inspiration) it might happen. Even if we never know how it happens and why it happens. Don't think about it too much and focus on the dream that comes with your talent.
Use that talent to bless others(not for your own glory) and to God's glory. The best way to use your talents and your gifts is to use them to achieve the dream God put in your heart.
Then if you ever happen to have a block you won't worry about your future without this gift but you will be well disposed to hear what God has to tell you and to receive what he wants to give you.
It might be just for a time, for you to focus on the right things again.

No One Is Perfect!

This is the excuse of so many people who don't want to change for the better. They hide behind this phrase. No one is perfect!
Well it is a fact. No one is perfect. At least, no human being is. But is it a bad thing to make it a goal in your life to be perfect? To do your best to be upright? I don't think so. IF you are aware that you will never be able to do it on your own
If you try to be perfect, you will soon realize that you are not. If you think that you have reached perfection, then it means you have never been further from it. But if you want to be perfect, you have to know that first, you need to be saved
To the question "How to be perfect" I have to answer "Once you're saved, you'll have everything you need to be perfect". But then again you might only reach perfection in heaven. Or should I say you will.
Then you might want to ask how to be saved. I will then answer "It is all explained in the Bible : you have to recognize and confess that you have sinned and that it seperates you from God. God is Holy, you are a sinner. Then you have to realize and confess that Jesus Christ(the Son of God, that is to say, God Himself) has come to earth to live as a perfect man without sin, then die on a cross instead of you as a perfect sacrifice to reconcile you with God and He rose again three days later(as He promised) because He won over death and sin and went back to heaven. He promised and will return just as he left to reign forever on the earth. Now all you have to do is to believe that, say that you believe it, and live by it. Which means repent from your sin(turn away from it) and trust God who will give you the Holy Spirit that will allow you to love God with all your being and others as yourself and hate sin and depart from it. You will have eternal life and have a relationship with God. You will then be able to obey His commands and start your journey to become more and more like Christ. Jesus Christ will be your Savior and Lord." (if you have more questions, ask me or have a look at this website)

So, once this question answered and this decision made, there is no excuse left not to do your best and get closer and closer to perfection each day. So, when someone tells you "it is not honest to do that" or "it's wrong to do that" or whatever that challenges you to change for the better, never, never NEVER EVER EVER answer "No one is perfect!". Instead, recognize that you have been wrong, ask God to forgive you and change what has to be changed. He will help you. I promise.

"Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect."(see Matthew 5)

About Sickness...

This blog has been deserted for years...literally!
I'm sorry about that...
Anyway!
My question today is "why sickness?". The problem is : I don't have the answer!
No one has it, anyway..
But everyone at some point is going to get sick.
Now even if we can't know why, we can know how to cope with it.
My life being what it is, I have had to learn to cope with some serious illnesses. A friend of mine likes to say "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger". I agree. Even if it makes you weak and fragile on the outside, it can make you stronger on the inside.
Yes, it can. It doesn't always make you wiser or stronger. Sometimes it makes you bitter instead of making you better.
It is a choice one has to make.
Will it make you think you are the only one to suffer in the world? Or that you are the one who suffers the most? Will it make you angry at everyone(and especially those who seem to have no problem in their lives)? Will it get the best of you? Will it make you pity yourself? Will it make you angry at God? Or doubt His goodness, love, faithfulness, you name it?
Will it help you understand other people who suffer around you? Will it help you surpass yourself and stretch your limits? Will it help you learn perseverance? Will it bring you closer to God? Will it help you learn about His goodness, love, faithfulness, power, etc?
You are the one to decide.
If you are sick and it doesn't kill you, or even if it can or will kill you, will it make you stronger? Or even better : will it make you understand how weak you are and how strong God is?

"he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong." (2 Corinthians 12:9-10)

Scared?

Lately(for the past few months), I haven't been very talkative in here...
I guess I simply didn't have anything to say. Actually, every time I wanted to write something, I either erased what I had written(because I didn't find it good enough), or got stuck without knowing what to write...
Now, a few weeks ago, I saw a video by Charlie McDonnell, where he tells how scared he is at the moment. He is scared that people won't like him. He made me want to write again.

Human beings all have fears. Some are afraid of some animal, some are afraid of crowds, some are afraid of confined places, and so on. We all have fears. Different fears, but we are all afraid of something. BUT. There is one thing that all human beings are afraid of and aspiring to. Our common desire is to be loved. Our common fear is to be unloved. We all have different reasons to be afraid that someone(or everyone) won't love/like us. "I don't dress well enough" "I am not funny enough" "I am not cool enough" "I am not/too...blahblahblah".
Well, let me tell you something...
I don't have that fear anymore. Well, to be honest, I do feel unloved from time to time, but I find comfort thinking and knowing that at least there is one person who will always love me, and love me very much, unconditionally and perfectly, forever. When I was little, I thought I was useless and no one loved me and I thought I was simply not lovable. Thing is, I had always heard that God loved me, and he loved me so much that he sent Jesus Christ to reconcile with me through living a human life and dying instead of me though he was perfect and didn't do anything wrong, and he rose again, and now it was possible for me to have a relationship with him. When I realized what it meant, I felt so bad at first because I knew I didn't deserve it. I didn't deserve love from anyone let alone God, I was a bad little girl and I knew from what I had learned that almost everything I did, God didn't like. So, I was at the point that I told God "why do you love me so much? Don't love me like that!". But then, after showing me his love, he made me feel it. I knew and I felt loved. He was constantly telling me "I love you". Then, you know, he showed me that if I refused to be loved by him, it was making all his efforts vain, and that would be so outrageous and so hurtful to him. And I personally knew I needed him and his love to keep going. So I let him love me, and simply fell in love with him again(yeah because when I was like from 3 to let's say 6, I really genuinely loved him, he was basically my first love). From that moment on, he has always had my back and I know I can count on him, and he trusts me. We share a true friendship, and my life has become brighter. Now, I love life, because I know I'm loved, and because I love(not only God, but others too! Of course! ;) ).
Now, I also have come to realize that I have people around me who truly love me and support me(my family, and friends), and I think it is important to realize that even if you feel like people don't like you, or you're not lovable or you're afraid that people would reject you or dislike you or what you do and so on, there will always be people around you who care about you and will always support you no matter what. What is important then? Pleasing youtube anonym fans you've never seen or talked to, or live your life, do whatever you like and keep close those you know and trust?

Truth vs Tolerance?

Nowadays, in this world of ours, in this society, people proclaim tolerance everywhere, and many people(if not everyone) think it is something very important that we all need to live. It has become the banner of the defenders of liberty and equality. The only problem is (if there is only one) : the same people who claim to be tolerant, want and try to impose their conceptions to others...

Hypocrisy, much?

What is truth? I mean Truth; you know; that thing everyone claims to own. Well, obviously, there can only be ONE Truth. So there can't be "my" truth and "your" truth, if we both believe two things totally contrary to each other. One of us is right, or none of us know the truth, but we can't both have found the truth.
This is the danger with tolerance, it kills our so precious Truth's "voice".

But all that doesn't answer to the question, does it?

There is only one man who claimed to be The Truth(along with many other things). People think they can possess the truth, but we can never be sure to know it completely. At least, we can be honest with ourselves and others(and God, while we're at it), and not deny our beliefs and convictions pleading "tolerance" instead of Truth.

Tolerance is actually a trend, and I believe a very bad one...Try respect instead.

.♥.

Jesus the Christ is that man, if you were wondering. ;)

The purpose of it all

What is life all about? Is there really a reason for us to live? WHY? Why all this? Why life? Why love? Why hate? Why hardships? Why happiness?
We surely don't have all the answers, but one thing is sure : God has them! Yes, I do believe there is a God out there, who watches us live and destroy everything he created perfect. He is the purpose of it all! Hardships are not there to destroy us, but to give us an occasion to cry out to him! Love is his motivation for everything he lets happen, or decides to make happen(you decide which of those). But men are wicked and influenced by the devil, and think they are all powerful, but they are in fact very very weak(even more compared to the almighty God!).
What is your life about? What is your reason to live? Do you love? Do you hate? Why?! Are you happy? Are you "lucky"? Or is God gracious unto you?

I am a child

I am a child. I am 20 years old, I know. But I am a child. I am a grown-up, or am I? I don't want to be a grown-up, sometimes.
Grown-ups have forgotten everything they lived for when they were children. They used to play together, they used to dream, they used to care, they would never worry. They used to love with passion, deeply. They did not have prejudices.
But now; they don't play anymore, they don't dream anymore, they don't care about anything but themselves and feel insecure. They hate with passion; they hate others and even themselves sometimes. They get angry and they forget that when they were children, they didn't know it all, but they wanted to learn. They forget that when they were children, they were hurt when adults lied to them.
But they make the same mistakes as their parents and grandparents before them : they forget the essential things of life and attach themselves to things that pass; they are never satisfied.
So, I am a child, because I am still myself. Everything changed, but nothing changed, after all.
I am the same, so is this world.
Will it ever change? I believe it will. I am not naive and I am not living a utopia. I think I am right and will never give up, as long as I am on this earth.
As Mother Theresa said : "We ourselves feel that what we are doing is just a drop in the ocean. But the ocean would be less because of that missing drop."

"And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved"

Matthew 24v12-13

Stupid beliefs?

Do we always have to be reasonable in all we do, say, think, believe? What does it mean, "to be reasonable"? Reason is important, that I can't deny. But sometimes, people just can't only use their brains. We are human, we have been given a heart, and strength comes from there. "Only humans can be inhuman". That is one quote that touched my heart. I will never forget it. Now, that is one sentence to put in a philosophy essay! ^^ What is my point? Well, it's coming. When people used only their brains and not their hearts, we all know through history and today's news, what the results were. But when people used their brains to do what their hearts were telling them, then we also have many examples(Gandhi, Martin Luther King, etc.) to show us which one is the best, and which one made a positive change in our world.
Now, what does it all have to do with the title? Is there such a thing as "stupid belief"? Now, when we say such things, we usually think "the people who believe that are stupid". That is, basically what it means. Now, who never believed something "stupid"? In other words, something irrational. We all did, or still do. So, who are we to judge someone who may not believe the same we do, but believes in something as stupid as we do? Then who is stupid?
Of course, sometimes, people don't use their brains enough and believe everything they are told. But it isn't worse than people who use their brains too much and don't believe anything they are told. What I mean, and that will conclude, is that we all need to reconsider the way we see things, and the way we see others. We all need to find the truth, yes, but first, we will all find it in a different way, and second, we should not start searching for it with a pre-conceived idea of it.

Now, that came from my heart. ^^

Friends?

Are friends essential? Is it vital to have a friend? Are they essential to have to be happy? Real friends usually can be counted on the fingers of one hand. What if one had none? Does it ever really happen? We sometimes aren't even aware that we do have friends we can count on. People are desperate when they feel like they have no friend. People seem happy when they find out they have real friends. What is a friend? Are they there only to bring you joy? Are you there only to bring them joy? What do you expect from them? What would you be willing to do for them? Friends are precious, keep them close, never let them down.

Irma-My Friend...Who feels just like that? :)

Irma-Every Smile

I simply love this song... :)

Crazy?

No, the title of this post has absolutely NOTHING to do with the previous post. This being said...
Have you ever called someone crazy? Or have you ever been the one to be called crazy? What does it feel like? What about people who have some kind of mental disorder? The relationship that they have with this word must be totally different than the one so called "normal" people have. Wow, that was a long sentence. Hope I didn't lose you on the way haha. So, I was saying... When in people's minds(or at least some people you know, be it in your family or among your friends) seeing a psychiatrist is only meant for crazy people, then it feels special when you go see one. Now, what does "crazy" mean exactly? Freud says people call some crazy because they are different. He changed the meaning of "crazy", and those who were then called "crazy", he called them "sick", so not different from the others. He said that it is all a matter of intensity and quantity. We are all "crazy" after all. For some of us, it is a bit more obvious, that's all. Now that doesn't say exactly what "crazy" means. When you're kidding and laughing with a friend, you say "you're crazy!", but it doesn't mean the same as someone who sees his brother going insane, is it? Now, that is the problem, actually. Yes, the thing is that someone who has a mental disorder will take it differently if you call them crazy, than someone who has no such trouble. But the weird thing is that after some time, these same people will feel totally comfortable with this idea of craziness. When they are the ones to call themselves crazy. Crazy, isn't it?

Crazy Love?

I'm currently reading a book. Wait, let me say it again : I'M READING A BOOK! Haha this is crazy, I know! ^^
Well, this book is called Crazy Love(by Francis Chan). When I first started to read it, I really wasn't impressed and I didn't like it. I actually didn't want to read it at all. Let me explain  :

My youth group decided to read this book(or our leader told us into doing it, I'll never really know^^) when I wasn't there. So, as everybody seemed to agree, I had no choice but to read it too. We read a chapter per week and at the end of the week, we talk about what we've read. The first chapter isn't the best, really. The author makes some good points, but it really isn't the best thing I've ever read like what they seemed to say it was.
Anyway. What is actually interesting is the discussion that comes after each reading. It helps understand and remember and realize what the author meant, and what God wants us to understand and remember and realize through it.
The last chapter I read(the third one)is entitled just like the book itself : Crazy Love. After reading that chapter and talking with my youth group, I entered a new dimension in my relationship with God. I had this desire for some time to do more than just believe in God. I wanted to love God and have really that relationship of love between him and me, and me and him. I knew with my mind that God loves me, but I found it hard to love him really. I only believed, to be honest. To me, in the Bible, the main thing is Love. True Love. That's basically what it's all about. God's Love for humans and this desire he has for it to be reciprocal. That's the challenge :
"Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength." (Deuteronomy 6:5)

The greatest commandment, the first one, the most important. (and maybe the most difficult?) Once we realize his love for us, it becomes easier to love him. I find it easier to love him now. It even inspired me a love song!  In love? Crazy? Crazy Love?
